Keynote: Programmatic’s teenage years
9:15am - 9:50am

Speakers:
Ana Milicevic, Principal & Co-Founder, Sparrow Advisors

Programmatic advertising was born in the early aughts. This year around ⅔ of global digital ad spend is expected to go be purchased programmatically; not bad for a teenager. But as with most teens, things are rarely, if ever simple: in most markets the large influx of interest (and media spend) in programmatic is collected by the three largest global advertising platforms, effectively decimating formerly strong local media ecosystems. In larger companies programmatic if frequently a harbinger of the necessary and far-reaching institutional change, triggered by digital transformation. And for most companies hiring people with the right programmatic skillsets remains an ongoing and recurring challenge. Today’s keynote will dive into these three groups of problems, chart the evolution of this space, and attempt to answer what we can all expect from programmatic in the coming years.

Platinum Keynote: New Frontiers of Programmatic Between Transparency & Effectiveness
9:50am - 10.25am

Speakers:
Adele Wieser, Managing Director, Australia & New Zealand, Index Exchange

Identity in AdTech can refer to so many different things. One set aims to solve the user sync inefficiencies we see today by creating common identifiers, designed to be collected and shared in an optimised fashion (think: The Trade Desk’s Unified ID or IAB Tech Lab’s DigiTrust ID).

The second aims to bring people-based identifiers to the open market, allowing those on both the buy and sell side of our ecosystem to leverage people-based marketing (i.e. LiveRamp’s IdentityLink).

In this presentation, Adele Wieser, will take us through on how “Identity” has impacted and will continue to impact our industry.

Coffee Break

Panel: The precipice - TV, outdoor, audio & other emerging opportunities
10:55am - 11.30am

Moderator:
Wayne Krowitz, Marketing & Content Director, MMS
Speakers:
Josh Rohrlach, Programmatic Manager - Victoria, Nine
Nick Brignell, Head of Client Development, Xaxis, Xaxis
Lynna Barrett, Chief Digital Officer, National Tiles, National Tiles
Jonathan Mandel, Head of Digital Commercial, Southern Cross Austereo, Southern Cross Austereo

Theoretically programmatic advertising is a no brainer; utilising automation of customer data to better target, drive repeat purchase and ultimately increase advertising yields. But now, after a difficult puberty, Programmatic has come of age. The cowboys have been pushed to one side, transparency is hygiene, correct standards have been established, and yields are increasing.

This is prime time to step it up a notch and benefit from even further advances in the space. But how? Where? And more importantly, what does that mean for true indicators of success across the full marketing mix? Join Nine, Xaxis, National Tiles, SCA and KPEX as we explore this very notion with practical implementation tips and some provocative discussion.

Gold Keynote: Discovery - Powering People’s Passions
11.30am - 11.55am

Speakers:
Rebecca Kent, GM Australia, NZ & Pacific Islands, Discovery

GM of Discovery ANZ, Rebecca Kent, speaks to how Discovery’s strategy is different to any other media company. By curating content and brands representing everyday genres and the passions of loyal audiences, Discovery dives deep into under-served verticals and then super-serves fans with a true 360 offering and unparalleled advertising opportunities.

Gold Keynote: Programmatic Advertising and the Battle for the Soul of the Internet
11.55am - 12.20pm

Speakers:
Chi Lo, Director of Accounts, ANZ, The Trade Desk

3 years ago, you could be forgiven for not knowing what programmatic advertising was, or thinking that it doesn’t really matter to anyone but hard core digital marketers or agency trading teams. But not all programmatic advertising is created equal. Like all technology, programmatic can be used for good, to fund an open, vibrant media marketplace based on shared, open standards and transparency - for example, supporting a whole ecosystem of publishers who are responsible for keeping the world informed. Or, it can be used to reinforce powerful walled gardens where information is shared selectively and the private business interests of a few dominate over all else. As more and more media is traded programmatically – not just digital display, but TV, audio and even OOH – it’s increasingly important for marketers to understand not just the technical basics, but what version of programmatic they want to support. What makes a good programmatic partner, and what questions should you be asking to make that decision? With more and more of the content we consume moving online to be funded by digital advertising, it’s about more than good business: it’s a fight for the very future of the internet.

Round Table Discussions
12.20pm - 12.55pm

A great chance to discuss and benchmark what other brands are doing with similar challenges and opportunities on the horizon. Tables are clearly marked with the name of the round table session, and which brand is leading it.

Networking Lunch
12:55pm - 1:35pm

Brought to you by
iMedia Online Retail Summit Australia

Keynote: There's no silver bullet - Customer experience is the differentiator
1:35pm - 2.10pm

Speakers:
Roger Slater, Head of Segments and Digital Retail Bank, APAC, CitiBank

The concept of a seamless, data-driven, omni-channel consumer experience has been highlighted as the competitive advantage for brands. Programmatic has been touted as the silver bullet. But as something that has been pursued by brands for decades, is it truly achievable? And is the return worth the investment?

Or should we just accept that it's too hard and rely on our products, technology and AI to differentiate us from our competitors? Roger Slater is the Head of Segments and Digital at Citibank. Hear his views on consumer experience as a differentiator and what Citibank is doing to deal with the complexities it faces.

Gold Keynote: Your Ads Are Viewable, But Are They Memorable?
2.10pm - 2.35pm

Speakers:
Rob Leach, General Manager, APAC, Kargo

Understand the critical metrics that viewability alone doesn't measure.
Viewability has traditionally been the most popular indicator of a digital campaign’s success. The premise might seem indisputable: if a unit is on-screen (viewable) for a certain amount of time, then the advertising is doing its job. But is this assumption valid? Viewability alone doesn’t seem to capture whether an ad had a lasting effect on the consumer. It might have been in view, but was it also visible and memorable to a consumer?

Uncover new ideas about visibility as a performance indicator as Kargo and research technology company Tobii Pro explore various digital platforms to understand which types of ad units capture visual attention in its latest research study "Viewability vs Visibility".

With the possibility of other browsers following Apple's suit and implementing their own versions of Intelligent Tracking Prevention (ITP), what measures can advertisers take to ensure consumer eyeballs aren't separated from targeted advertising. What implications does this have on the idea of Universal ID?
What about audibility? HAVOC is a metric many advertisers are wedded to, but in the age of browsers penalising publishers for running sound on ads, are audio metrics still valid? How can advertisers optimise creative for sound off environments? And are there better measures of success?
